A tragic accident occurred early Sunday morning, 1st September 2024, on the Old Tafo Akyem to New Tafo OPASS Junction Highway in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana, claiming one life and leaving another person critically injured.
Reports indicate that the incident involved a Hyundai H100 vehicle with registration number GR 854 X, driven by Kudjo School Boy, the Cooperative Driver’s Union Chairman. The vehicle veered off its lane and crashed into a tree on the opposite side of the road.
The driver, Kudjo School Boy, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other passenger, who sustained severe injuries, is currently receiving treatment at the Tafo Government Hospital.
The New Tafo District Police Command has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, local residents have raised concerns about the frequent accidents occurring on this stretch of road. They are urging the Municipal Assembly and the Central Government to take immediate action by installing rumble strips and speed ramps to help prevent future incidents.
