Prof. Samuel Ntewusu will be delivering a seminar at the University of Media Arts and Communication – Institute of Journalism on the 13th of March, 2023, at the South Dzorwulu campus of the university.
The seminar is part of a series of programs being organized by the Department of Integrated Social Sciences for their Ghana Month celebration. The theme for the program, “Embracing Ghana for National Development: Unity in Cultural Diversity,” will open participants to the relevance of culture in building national unity and cohesion.
About Prof. Samuel Ntewusu:
Professor Ntewusu was the Research Coordinator of the History and Politics Section of the Institute of African Studies (IAS).
He has worked with the University of Ghana, Accra, Ghana, as a Research Assistant and later as a faculty member, teaching African History from earliest times to the present. He has promoted African studies at the graduate and undergraduate levels by researching and teaching courses related to Historiography and Methodology, Africa’s Colonial and post-independence history, The Slave Trade and Africa, Pan-Africanism, Chieftaincy, and Development. Professor Ntewusu has produced several articles and book chapters, a monograph on Urban and Transport History, and co-edited a book on aspects of History, Gender, and Culture in Africa and Europe. He has collaborated in research and teaching with several scholars, practitioners, and institutions in Ghana and abroad. He was the recipient of the 2016 Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) Fellowship. The award is presented to top-notch researchers working outside the Netherlands who have shared their knowledge and experience with researchers in Dutch institutes and universities. In 2019, Professor Ntewusu was the recipient of the African Distinguished Speaker Series at California State University, Long Beach. He has given several public lectures at institutions in Ghana, the USA, and the Caribbean. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Voorhees University in SC, USA. (UG website)
