Nana Ofosu Asante Twum, popularly known as Nana OAT, who serves as the Eastern Regional Free SHS Coordinator, Abuakwa North NPP Elections and Research Direct and Regional Communications team member, has called on leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to resign over the party’s failure to provide evidence to support their claims about flaws in the electoral register. During an interview with Nana Kwasi Asare on Nopras FM 13th September, 2024, Nana OAT criticized the NDC’s Director of Elections, Dr. Omane Boamah, for the party’s inability to produce the necessary evidence for a forensic audit of the electoral register.

Nana OAT emphasized that the NDC’s failure to substantiate its claims with evidence undermines their credibility, especially after the Electoral Commission requested specific data to investigate the alleged discrepancies. “If the NDC can’t provide evidence for their claims, then the elites in the party should resign,” Nana OAT stated.

He further expressed his disbelief at the possibility of seeing educated members of the NDC participating in what he described as the “enough is enough” demonstration. He argued that it would be disappointing to see learned individuals resort to street protests without tangible evidence to back their claims against the Electoral Commission.

The call for resignations comes in the wake of ongoing tensions between the NDC and the Electoral Commission, with the NDC insisting on a forensic audit of the voters’ register, a demand the Commission has rejected as premature and unnecessary. The Commission has repeatedly asked the NDC to provide data on the alleged discrepancies, but the party has yet to furnish the Commission with the requested information, casting doubt on the validity of their claims.

Nana OAT’s comments reflect the growing criticism the NDC faces from government officials and stakeholders who believe that the party’s actions are politically motivated rather than based on substantial evidence.
