The National Anti-Cocoa Smuggling Task Force intercepted 400 bags of cocoa beans and arrested twelve suspects in Kwahu Adawso.
The task force, comprising personnel from the Ministry of National Security, Ghana Cocoa Board, and other intelligence units, seized two trucks with registration numbers AS 2653-12 and GS 4220-12, loaded with cocoa beans en route to Togo. The smugglers attempted to conceal the cocoa with Tapoli and offered a bribe of GH¢80,000, which was rejected.
This marks the third smuggling case in Kwahu South Municipality. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Emmanuel Ofori Atta Snr, commended the task force’s swift action and urged patriotic efforts to combat smuggling.
The arrested individuals, including drivers, boat operators, and loading boys, face swift judicial proceedings.
