The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims made by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia regarding the arrest of three individuals for possession of firearms at Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Constituency. In a video, Mr. Nketia alleged that the Accra Regional Police Commander, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the Inspector-General of Police had informed him that the arrests were made on orders from higher authorities.
In a statement posted on their official Facebook page, the police categorically denied these allegations, stating that they are false and baseless. The police clarified that none of the mentioned officers had made any such pronouncement.
The statement further explained that the three suspects were apprehended when a Pump Action gun with four rounds of ammunition was discovered in their vehicle at the offices of the Electoral Commission in Ofaakor. The suspects have been cautioned and granted bail as investigations continue.
The Ghana Police Service emphasized its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that all actions are based on legal procedures without any undue influence.
