Accra, June 13, 2024 – The Ghana Grid Company LTD. (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced that recent reductions in gas supply from Nigeria have led to power interruptions in several areas across Ghana. The disruptions started on June 12, 2024, due to maintenance works on the West Africa Gas Pipeline.
The West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) confirmed that the maintenance is being carried out by a gas supplier in Nigeria and is expected to last three weeks. This has significantly impacted Ghana’s power generation capacity, potentially leading to load management during this period.
GRIDCo and ECG are collaborating with other stakeholders to minimize the impact on consumers and apologize for any inconvenience caused.
