Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana, made a visit to the Electoral Commission’s office in Abuakwa North 27th May, 2024. This visit coincided with the ongoing voter registration exercise, which is aimed at registering newly eligible 18-year-olds and other unregistered individuals.
This marks Honourable Twum-Ampofo’s second visit since the commencement of the registration exercise. Known affectionately as Hajia Kande in political circles, she did not come empty-handed. Her visit was notable for her generosity, as she provided lunch, water, and soft drinks to all individuals present at the registration center.
Additionally, she made a financial contribution to support the registration process, presenting an undisclosed amount of money to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Abuakwa North.
Mrs. Irene Baah Asare, the Constituency Treasurer, gratefully accepted the donation on behalf of the party. She acknowledged that this was the first significant individual contribution received by the party for the registration exercise, apart from funds from the party’s headquarters.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Constituency Chairman Alhaji Seidu Ibrahim and his executives, along with several polling station executives. The presence of these officials underscored the importance of the MP’s visit and her support for the voter registration initiative.
Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo’s contributions are expected to bolster the registration efforts, ensuring a smooth process for new voters in Abuakwa North.
