Reports from Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana indicate that Stephen Makata, a community police officer, sprayed a woman and her one-year-old daughter with pepper spray.
The woman is appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Ghana Police Service, and the Eastern Regional Police Command to take action against Stephen Makata.
Nenebi Ayertey, a journalist from Rite FM, was also assaulted and had his phones seized by Makata when he attempted to record a video of the incident.
Additionally, reports indicate that market women at Nkurakan have received threats from Officer Makata on market days.
