A fatal accident has claimed one life, leaving another critically injured, at Salom, a suburb community on the Nkurakan-Huhuya-Asesewa Road.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 6, 2024, around 3:30 pm near Huhuya in the Yilo Krobo District of the Eastern Region, as the victims were returning from Nkurakan.
The dusty nature of the Koforidua to Nkurakan-Asesewa Road in the Yilo Krobo municipality has been blamed for frequent fatal motor accidents, resulting in the death of one person and severe injuries to others.
The victims were transported to the Eastern Regional Hospital, where the injured received medical attention, and the deceased was sent to the hospital morgue.
Eyewitnesses from Salom told Rite FM/Onua TV News’ Nenebi Ayertey David that the accident involved a taxi with registration number ER 1518-21, which was heading towards Koforidua, and a motorcycle.
According to them, the motorcyclist attempted to overtake amid the dusty conditions, leading to poor visibility and a collision with the taxi.
