The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo popularly called Hajia Kande, has retreated that, ensuring quality education in the enclave remains her topmost priority despite her losing her Parliamentary candidature which subsequently caused her disappointment by the president, Nana Akufo-Addo, as the deputy minister of education incharge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
“Being a deputy minister of education for five (5) years, it has always been my wish to ensure quality education in my Constituency so that I can account that, the level of literacy during my tenure is appreciated. Resourcing teachers is not enough without conducive learning atmosphere hence lobbying for these three (3) school building projects despite my Parliamentary primary and deputy ministerial loss”. Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo said.
The former deputy minister of education made this statement after handing over project sites to contractors for the construction of ultramodern school blocks with ancillary facilities.
The projects are, Sokode Guaso M/A JHS , Bediasi M/A and New Tafo Akim Presby KG blocks.
Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo posited that, the projects are scheduled to be completed by December 2024.
Mr Kofi Tenkorang , CEO of Bateks Construction Company Limited, thanked the Nana Akufo-Addo led administration and Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo for their continuous support to development and said the project will expedited to meet the deadline for completion.
Barima Ofori Mintah I, outlined the ordeal of pupils commuting to and fro Bediasi to neighbouring communities to access education and lauded Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo for her timely intervention.
Also present at the event were Hon Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa North and entourage, the clergy, a section of the Abuakwa North NPP Executives and party faithfuls, the general public and the press.
