Thousands of Eastern Region residents thronged the streets on Monday, April 29, to greet Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as he launched his campaign tour.
Starting with a breakfast meeting in Akuapem North Constituency with religious leaders and the Muslim community, Dr. Bawumia was met with enthusiastic crowds at every stop, including a lively encounter with market women in Nkurakan, Yilo Krobo Constituency.

The overwhelming support caused delays as his security team navigated through unprecedented traffic.
In Koforidua, Dr. Bawumia engaged with traders and taxi drivers in the market, emphasizing his commitment to accountability and contrasting his approach with that of his opponent, John Mahama.

He highlighted his track record as Vice President, citing initiatives like the digital national identity system and mobile money interoperability, and pledged to address corruption and generational challenges if elected president.
