The presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to swiftly address the current electricity supply instability, commonly referred to as “dumsor.”

During his campaign visit to the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumia assured religious leaders in Akropong on Monday, April 29, 2024 of the government’s determination to tackle the issue.

Acknowledging existing economic challenges, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the urgency of resolving the power issues. He relayed information from the energy minister, indicating that the power challenges would soon become a thing of the past.

Criticism has been directed towards the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) by businesses, organizations, and individuals due to the recent inconsistent power supply. The Ghana Union of Traders Association has requested a load-shedding schedule from the ECG to plan their activities accordingly.

However, the ECG has stated that there is currently no need for a load-shedding schedule given the prevailing circumstances.
