The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has observed a notable rise in social engineering attacks, leading to unauthorized access and account takeovers on WhatsApp.
As of April 2024, there have been 187 reported incidents, equaling the total number reported for all of 2023.
Scammers are deceiving victims into sharing their WhatsApp verification codes, which facilitates these breaches.
The CSA advises users to stay alert and not share verification codes with anyone.
