Accra, Ghana – July 12, 2024: The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has officially called off its strike after receiving assurances from the Government of Ghana regarding the finalization and implementation of a new salary structure for the Civil Service and Local Government Service.
In a communiqué issued to all regional secretariats, CLOGSAG confirmed the resolution of key issues concerning the salary structure. The government, represented by various bodies including the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), committed to finalizing the salary structure by October 31, 2024, with implementation set for January 1, 2025.
This agreement is rooted in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on January 19, 2022, and marks a significant step towards addressing the concerns of CLOGSAG members. Consequently, CLOGSAG has agreed to call off its strike with immediate effect.
The communiqué was signed by Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, and emphasizes the association’s commitment to unity and equal rights.
