The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo, also known as Hajia Kande, visited the victims of the fire incident at 31st Young Women Christian Association (31st YWCA) in Akyem Tafo on 11th April,2024. The fire, which occurred on April 3rd, 2024, caused significant damage, but fortunately, there were no casualties.
Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo expressed her sympathy for the affected women and emphasized the importance of offering support during such challenging times, especially after learning about the incident through social media. She promised to provide further assistance after assessing the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
During her visit, Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo donated four bags of rice, five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 5000), and two street light bulbs as immediate support.
Additionally, she took the opportunity to extend Eid greetings to Vice President Dr. Mahammud Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and urged Ghanaians to support the NPP for continuous socio-economic development.
Mrs. Elizabeth Amponsah, the Manager of 31st YWCA, expressed gratitude for Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo’s generosity, noting that it was the first donation they had received since the incident. She appealed to other well-meaning Ghanaians, civil society organizations, and non-governmental organizations to assist in restoring the facility.
Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo took the chance to examine the bridge being built at the Hospital Junction as part of the ongoing road construction and was pleased with the progress. She also encouraged the contractor to speed up the construction process to ensure swift completion, which would enhance economic activities in the region.
Accompanying Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo were Alhaji Seidu Ibrahim, NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr Stephen Osei-Wusu, Municipal NADMO Director, Constituency and Polling Station Executives, and members of the press.
