Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has counseled Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as “Napo,” to ensure that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia never regrets choosing him as his running mate for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
In his address on Tuesday, July 9, Otumfuo emphasized the importance of loyalty and obedience to Dr. Bawumia. He urged Napo, his grandson, to remain humble and follow Dr. Bawumia’s guidance.
“Don’t let Dr. Bawumia regret selecting you as his running mate. Be humble and submissive to him. Do only what he teaches you to do,” Otumfuo advised.
Addressing the reputation of arrogance associated with Dr. Opoku Prempeh, Otumfuo encouraged him to avoid actions that would validate this perception.
The Asantehene also extended his gratitude to President Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for selecting Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the running mate. He called on Dr. Bawumia to mentor Napo effectively and to report any missteps.
“Train him, and if he goes wrong, tell me, and I will advise him,” Otumfuo added.
